The Return of Peugeot 5o-Series
Everybody [including myself] thinks that Peugeot 4o8 will be the natural successor of the popular 4o7. Today something interesting from insiders hinting that...
"the successor of the 4o7 will not be the 4o8 as everyone expected, it is going to be called 5o8!"
The source indicated that this change was needed because the new car, Peugeot 5o8 will not only replace the 4o7, but also the 6o7. It appears that the new vehicle will also carry a hybrid version and will be the base for the next crossover. Apparently, it is expected to see a Prologue 5o8 Concept at next year’s Paris Motor Show and the production version is expected in spring of 2011.
The long anticipated Peugeot 5o-series will not only fill the gap between 4o7 and 6o7 but will merge the 4o-series and 6o-series.
The first Peugeot of my own was 5o5SR [i.e the last 5o-series] bought 2nd hand in the early 90s - expected for the new 5o6 by 1995 but it was not materialised - I was forced to get W124 as the family flagship then.

Many of us know the history of Peugeot’s GTi badge and loved the hot hatches, especially the legendary 205. Unfortunately today we have a bad news - the French manufacturer decided to kill the GTi badge and all its history with it.

Well, according to Peugeot marketing director Christian Stein, Peugeot wants to move away from hot hatches towards premium sports coupes.
“For us, the GTi concept is dead. We will move away from hot hatches towards premium sports coupes [similar to RCZ].” said Christian Stein.
It appears that Peugeot is also considering to introduce new coupe smaller than the RCZ [about 2o-series size?]!
